Webb Simpson Flummoxed With No-Rulebook Aspect Of PGA Tour

Webb Simpson is surprised that PGA Tour doesn’t carry rulebook. The proud USGA champ, who is also the winner of US Open 2012 cannot accept that PGA Tour would be administered week-to-week via their own version of Golf Rules.

“I do not feel that we would be administered by any amateur organization”, stated Simpson who is seeming offended with no-rulebook aspect of PGA Tour.

“I do love USGA & I am friends with many officials endowed with the responsibility to run this esteemed organization. They work great and it’s remarkable how they come up with possibly the greatest of golf tours in the whole world in U. S. Open. However, we are the sole sport which as in my knowledge, is governed by some amateur organization.”

“What I feel is that there is a disconnect”, he continued.

“Where they would have power & where they must not have power.”

The golf star remarked that it’s not just he who feels that there’re 3-4 rules which simply do not convey any sense for this pro game. (more…)

The pairing of Speith and Reed for fourball matches

It was Steve Stricker who suggested that Jordan Speith and Patrick Reed were the best pairing combo for competing in the Four-ball format. Their performance was very good and they hoped to be chosen again for the following Friday’s competition.

Steve Stricker from Wisconsin was chosen to assist Captain Tom Watson in the US team that competed in the Ryder Cup 2014. This championship takes place once every two years. This year it took place in Perthshire, Scotland. For the last 6 competitions the Europeans have won five times. The American teams, for the last 21 years have not been able to win even once in Europe. Stricker, now 47 years old was hopeful of being able to play in the team but his injuries didn’t permit him to play. No one as young as Stricker had coached the US team ever before. It was hoped that he would be able to assist the US team perform to the best of their ability in this year’s competition.

Steve Stricker has won 12 PGA tournaments. Most of his success came in 2009. That year he won three tournaments and got the second place on the money list. In the official World Golf Ranking he once was in the second place, that was the highest rank he ever achieved.

Stricker’s wife Nicki is often seen as his caddy, his father in law and brother in law were both golfers who took part on the PGA tour.

In his early years, Stricker used to play golf in Lake Ripley Club located near Cambridge and in the Edgerton Towne Country Club in Edgerton. He graduated in the year of 1990 from the University of Illinois. He earned himself All American honors as a golf team member in the years of 1988 and 1989.

Performance Of The Players In U.S Masters

Martin Kaymer, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler have all played under par in the majors of 2014. Many have played over par like Henrik Stenson, Jimmy Walker, Jason Day, Matt Kuchar, Justin Rose, Chris Kirk, Rory Mcllroy, Ian Poulter and Brandt Snedeker. Many have scored over par in double digits like Russel henley, Gary Woodland, Stewart Cink, Billy Horschel and Bill Haas.

Kevin Stadler has been consistent rather than better when compared to Bubba Watson. Bubba Watson failed to make the cut at Pinehurst at the local time on Friday in his search to finish the Masters-US Open. He is solely responsible for his poor performance as he was one shot away from making the cut. According to him such a kind of course does not suit him. But he is confident of preparing for the latter part of the year. With only five players being able to win both the Masters and the US is an achievement which most of the other players lack.

Luke Donald, Lee Westwood and Jason Dufner also failed to make the cut this year. Though Donald does not have the stance of playing on such a course but Westwood was one of the best players suited for such a course but even he failed to rise to the occasion. Neil and Lombard on the other hand played a neck to neck match with ups and downs and it was Lombard who made the birdie in the 15th and the 16th but Neil closed it at par on the 17th. Both are friendly and seeing such a competition was fun for the spectators as well as the players. Neil won the match and he received accolades on twitter by Justin Rose. Both the players respected each others game and there was not a trace of enemity from either side.
